A Competitive Horse Racing System

September 2nd, 2010

Betting isn’t any different than trading stocks, than banking, than setting up financial deals, in terms of mergers and acquisitions. So when you talk about horse racing system, you’re really talking about the same thing: i.e. mathematics. In fact, you’ll find that betting, wagering about horses, and placing sophisticated financial derivatives trades up, setting up positions, share common terms. Take arbitrage for example. You can do this in options trading, even futures trading (granted, some arbitrage techniques are banned or deemed “illegal”). Arbitrage positions can also be set up in horse betting. When you take up an arbitrage position, you actually take a bit of both sides, but the downside to this strategy is that it takes a lot of cash capital to realize any gains, since you’re dealing with slight margins in the middle. And like finance and trading, horse betting also has its fair share of software systems to help the wagerer along.
