Car insurance rates changes from one company to another, and from different regions in Nevada — it doesn’t matter if your home is in Las Vegas, Reno or elsewhere. The Nevada Division of Insurance’s Website features a consumer guide that shows some representative car insurance policy rates for different hypothetical scenarios by ZIP code. These can provide you with an idea of what you might spend on a premium.
However, there are lots of factors, including your age, driving record, miles you drive and more that could impact that. That’s why the insurance Information Institute recommends doing some comparison quote shopping to find the lowest rates and best value. The institute recommends getting at least three different quotes.
You won’t need to spend lots of time doing this, and in fact, the Internet has made this a a piece of cake process. You can travel to individual company Web sites and request quotes from each, or use an insurance comparison site.
With a comparison site, you benefit from the convenience of only the need to complete one online quote request form to get several different quotes back. The quotes should come from companies or agents who do business in your area.
If you decide to contact agencies or companies individually, make sure you provide the same information regarding your desired coverages and deductibles, drivers on the policy and annual mileage to each for the most accurate comparison.
The state of Nevada requires a minimum of $15,000 bodily injury liability coverage for injury or death of one person in an accident and $30,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more persons in an accident. It’s also required to have a minimum of $10,000 for injury or damage to the property of others. This coverage is generally described as 15/30/10. Keep in mind that these are minimum requirements, but may not be enough to protect you if you are financially responsible for an accident.
